About the Pod Houston Founder

Hola! I’m Ozeal, the zealous one behind this Houston Podcast movement aka Pod Houston Crew. 

I started Pod Houston because 

  1. There wasn’t a community of podcasters here which was super surprising. Houston is the 4th largest city and we don’t have a community of podcasters!? That’s gotta change.
  2. I had an urge to get connected with local podcasters and create a hub for others to collaborate and learn from each other.
  3.  I believe in the power of podcasting. I love everything about it. The conversations, connections, and the opportunity to inspire/educate my listeners to pursue their own endeavors. 

Why Podcasting?

Anyone who knows me knows I never shy away from a great conversation. Podcasting taps all my tigger points

I remember my best friend and I watching MTV during the summer, acting like we were broadcasters commentating on  music videos. We would record ourselves using a hand held tape recorder, laughing at ourselves during playback and having fun! 

I envisioned myself having my own show. Interviewing celebrities and musicians on TV. I would see the MTV VJs and say to myself, “Hey, I can do that!”

Even though, I didn’t pursue my MTV VJ dream, I did immerse myself in the world of entertainment for many years performing as a lead vocalist. You see, the love for the mic has always been a part of me. 

Making the pivot from music was hard, but it didn’t take long for me to rediscover my passion for interviewing. In 2015, I started a podcast called No Permission Needed. After failing on my first attempt at keeping it consistent (Lesson learned) I decided to relaunch the podcast in late 2017. 

And here I am.
